Radio Recall
Join our dedicated hosts Steve Fruitman and Peter Stamp. With decades of experience and knowledge about CIUT-FM they still were surprised to learn more secrets and facts from guests throughout CIUT’s history. Radio Recall is a lively exploration of our station’s history with the people that were there.

Aysha Jawara was an incredible interview. She is such a lucid speaker at such a young age. Just about to unleash her own CIUT Radio show - we caught up with her and spoke about her year on the Board of Directors and what she's learned by being a volunteer here at CIUT
Peter and I (Steve) do a year end revue after the interview.

Ben Rose was a volunteer at CIUT in the late 1970s as a 14 year old high school student who got his own show once a week. He was involved with UofT sports.
Did you know that CIUT hosted the Canada Cup and Spengler Cup tournaments?
Ben will fill in all of the details. He was on Zoom with us from Berkeley California

Mopa Dean was Program Director through five turbulent years in the 1990s. He is also a musician (Armed and Hammered), past member of the NCRA, board teched for hundreds of programs and is back to tell us all about it. Give a listen - I think it's one of the best episodes we've done to date.

Yola was a CIUT board tech for many shows before she got her own show. She was a volunteer in the 90s. Enjoy!

Al was a pre-FM volunteer (a friend of Mr. Pete since their early teens) who was brought on board to help facilitate the pre-FM musical line-up of shows. He left CIUT a year after the FM launch in 1987 but has kept his eye on the station ever since. He finds it satisfying to see that the station has since thrived, surviving many potholes along the way. Hear him speak with Steve Fruitman and Peter Stamp about what the station was like back then.
Radio Recall is about the legacy being left by our volunteers.
Coming up: Mopa Dean (former program director in the 1990s; Jola Sobolak (Yo B as she likes to be called) who programmed and tech'd in the 1990s; and Aysha Jowara, an undergrad student who recently spent a year on our board of directors and is currently working on a brand new show.

This week's guest is Dr Mouth aka Dan Lovranski who began with CUIT in the early 90s. Here how he got his show, how he lost his show, how he got his Wrestling Show, how he got his latest CIUT show and all kinds of other things. This features a wrestling segment featuring all sorts of wrestlers. One of my favourite interviews on Radio Recall to date. Check it out.

One of the most outspoken, audacious, brash and intelligent young volunteers who came to the station in his mid-teens and won himself a radio show when the station first went FM. Hear how he did it in less than ten breaths. Peter and I could barely get a word it. And it's rather hilarious! Check it out.

Everyone who listens to CIUT knows that voice! Gotto. She's Beverly Taft who's been doing our promos for 15 to 20 years now. She was also involved with other programs and is still active in CIUT Radio.

Sheila was a programmer at CIUT in the late 1980s. She co-hosted Reggae Rhyddems with Patrick Roots before making three very splendid radio docs. She now lives in BC.
